Transportation Options to and from the ABQ Airport
Hot air balloon service, unfortunately, is not available to the Albuquerque airport! Just kidding, of course. Albuquerque is well-known as host to the largest balloon festival in the world.
The Albuquerque International Sunport, airport code ABQ, is located just a few miles south of downtown Albuquerque. There are several transportation options to and from the airport, including taxis, shuttles, and rental cars.
Rental car pickup and return is right at the airport with continual shuttle service back and forth.
Of course, you can also use ride-sharing services such as Uber or Lyft to get to and from the airport.
Unfortunately, the New Mexico Rail Runner Express train which goes from Albuquerque to Santa Fe does not have a station at the airport, an unimaginable failure on the part of planners which dramatically reduces the rail line’s usage by tourists.
