Mazatlán’s 2023 Cultural Festival

The Mazatlán Cultural Festival is widely recognized as the most important cultural festival in the Northwest of Mexico and is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. The festival began on October 7, 2023, and will end on December 17, 2023, with 58 events scheduled throughout its run.

The events showcase various artistic performances from Broadway musicals, Disney musicals, Italian and German operas, contemporary dance, classical ballet, and book readings performed by over 1,000 Mexican artists and artists worldwide.

This year marks the 18th edition of the Art Walk event in Mazatlán, which will take place from November 2023 to April 2024. The Artwalk is a self-guided tour of studios in Mazatlán’s Historical and Downtown Districts that follows a mapped route that includes over 40 participating businesses.

The event highlights the ‘fine arts’ versus ‘crafts,’ showcasing mediums like paintings, sculptures, drawings, mixed media, printmaking, photography, fine art jewelry, and ceramics.

The ArtWalk occurs on the first Friday of every month from November through April and the tour maps are available in stores, hotels, and restaurants around Mazatlán and online.

Day of the Music

The Day of the Music celebration occurs during the Spring Season Festival, which usually takes place between March and July and presents over 50 cultural events for family entertainment. On this day, people in Mazatlán gather in the streets of the Historical District and celebrate the various musical genres of Mexico.

The Mazatlán Institute of Culture, Tourism, and Art organizes this event, bringing together over 200 musicians and musical groups to perform for five hours on four renowned stages in the city: Plazuela Machado, Olas Altas, and Constitucion, Liverpool Alley and outside of the Art Museum.

The celebrations also fuse visual arts, video games, and electronic sounds with live performances.
