There’s nothing like exercising outdoors. Whether it’s walking, hiking, biking, kayaking, or playing pickleball or tennis, it’s nice to work out while breathing fresh air and surrounded by nature if possible. What state do you think is the best for outdoor exercise?
An outdoor exercise study was conducted by Total Shape, a fitness resource site providing information about workouts, supplements, and fitness to help individuals meet their goals. Total Shape analyzed several factors in each U.S. state which were measured along with the size of each state to determine the rankings for best states for outdoor exercise.
The results may surprise you.
The following factors were analyzed and given an index score to determine the ranking.

- Kayaking & Canoeing Attractions

A spokesperson from Total Shape commented that “Whilst indoor exercise can become repetitive, using similar machines or the same routine, thus decreasing motivation to stay active – outdoor exercise can tackle this. Taking advantage of your surroundings can be incredibly helpful, whether your state has landed in the top 10 or not, to ensure you can mix up your exercise routines so that it remains enjoyable.”
