Zermatt, Switzerland was listed by American Express as one of its “trending destinations” for 2024. Attempting to recreate the Alpine experience without the Swiss expense and hassle of international travel is the hotel InterContinental Washington D.C. – The Wharf.

Inspired by a day on the slopes, InterContinental’s Winter Chalet experience launched December 1, 2023, includes a carefully curated four-course meal with optional wine pairings, seasonal cocktails and cozy, festive décor.  Starting at $110 per person groups of 6-10 can enjoy a carefully curated four-course menu with optional wine pairings surrounded by cozy, festive décor… twinkling lights, blankets, live greenery. Menu highlights include potato leek soup, endive salad, family-style raclette cheese, bone-in veal schnitzel, white fish en papillote and triple berry crostata. A limited-time cocktail program featuring Alpine Negroni and Coffee & Campfires Espresso Martini will transport guests from the heart of D.C. straight to the Swiss Alps for the ultimate in après ski indulgence.

The Winter Chalet experience will be offered weekly, with the exception of Mondays, through February 29, 2024, and can be booked online HERE

While D.C. doesn’t have ski slopes, The Wharf Ice Rink – D.C.’s only overwater ice skating venue – is located just steps away from InterContinental D.C. – The Wharf and welcomes skaters for the winter season through February. The Euro vibe extends to the nation’s oldest continuously operating open-air fish market nearby, emulating the open-air markets that populate European cities. And don’t forget all the iconic European art at the National Gallery whose collection includes the only oil painting by Leonardo da Vinci in the Western Hemisphere.
