New research from hotel chain Premier Inn has revealed which cities around the world that are least likely to experience extreme weather that risks disrupting travelers’ trips.
1. Lima, Peru
This is the top destination for travelers wanting a smooth trip when it comes to weather, recording only four extreme weather days in the past year. Lima offers a mild, moderate climate year-round with temperatures usually staying between 60°F and 80°F. Its location along the Pacific Ocean help keeps the city cool, and it rarely experiences severe storms or extreme heat.
2. Cairo, Egypt
For those who enjoy warm, sunny conditions, Cairo is a desert city with sunshine practically every day of the year and very little rainfall. Winters are mild, with daytime temperatures typically ranging between 65°F to 75°F, making it comfortable for visiting outdoor attractions.
While summers can be very hot, travelers who visit during the cooler months can enjoy sightseeing at famous landmarks, markets, and museums without dealing with cold or wet weather.
3. Las Vegas, USA
Taking top spot in the rankings, Las Vegas is known for its reliable weather, recording only 23 extreme weather days over the course of a year. Summer is the hottest time of year to visit with triple digit desert temperatures, but the weather is a dry heat with no humidity to speak of. The remainder of the year is much more comfortable.
4. Santiago, Chile
Santiago has a Mediterranean climate, making it a pleasant destination for much of the year. The city experiences warm, dry summers and cool, wetter winters, but its moderate weather avoids extreme cold and it sports long, sunny periods during much of the year.
Spring and fall are especially comfortable for outdoor activities and exploring the city’s parks, museums, and nearby mountains.
5. Vilnius, Lithuania
Vilnius places fifth in the rankings as a good weather destination for travelers who enjoy experiencing all four seasons without extreme temperatures. Spring and fall bring mild weather with daytime highs typically ranging from 55°F to 70°F, making it comfortable for walking through the city’s historic streets and parks. Summers are pleasantly warm, with average highs around 72°F to 77°F while winters are colder and often snowy, creating a scenic atmosphere. Late spring, summer, and early autumn are the best times to enjoy Vilnius’s outdoor cafés, gardens, and historic Old Town.
6. San Diego, USA
This Southern California gem has a reputation for having some of the best, consistent year-round weather in the country. Thanks to its Pacific Coast location, San Diego rarely experiences extreme hear or freezing temperatures. America’s finest city as its often called also receives abundant sunshine and relatively little rain, making it an excellent destination for outdoor activities such as hitting the beaches, hiking, and exploring parks in almost any season.
7. Warsaw, Poland
This one may come as a bit of surprise, as its winter temps can be cold and snowy, however, if you like snowy scenery, Christmas markets or winter sports, it’s an ideal time of year to visit. Comfortable seasonal weather is common in late spring, summer, and early autumn. During these months, daytime temperatures usually range from 65°F to 80°F, making it ideal for sightseeing, hiking, and exploring historic cities. Summers are generally warm without the extreme heat found in many southern European countries, while spring and fall offer mild temperatures and colorful scenery.
Whether visiting vibrant cities like Warsaw and Kraków or enjoying the countryside, travelers can experience pleasant weather for a wide variety of outdoor activities.
8. Mexico City, Mexico
Mexico’s capital city is known for its pleasant spring-like weather throughout much of the year. Because the city sits at a high elevation (about 7,350 feet), temperatures stay comfortable despite its location in the tropics. During all four seasons, daytime temperatures range from a low of 68–73°F in winter, 75–82°F in spring, 72–77°F in summer and 70–75°F in the fall. Summer is the rainy season with frequent afternoon showers however the remainder of the year brings consistent mild, dry and sunny weather.
9. Miami, Florida
While Miami summers can be hot and humid with afternoon thunderstorms common, you’re in a beach town, which means access to the water in its tropical climate. Winter is the most comfortable season, bringing snowbirds and visitors seeking sunshine and beach weather. Spring is warm and pleasant and fall is warm with decreasing humidity.
10. Stockholm, Sweden
Stockholm has a cool, seasonal climate with mild temperatures and cold winters, but its weather stays consistent with the time of year. Those who look for a cooler summer destination will love the city’s mild summers, fresh air and fewer hot-weather extremes. The most ideal time to visit is usually June through August when the city is warm, bright and ideal for sightseeing.
